While doing some net surfing (looking for some interesting global warming nuttiness) I came across this thread at Vegpeople.com.
It all starts with someone posting a Canadian report on how we are all going to die from the release of gas from farm cows. Then a "denier" named Marina-warrior princess chimes in and says she is not convinced that CO2 is the problem. Another chatter named Franco decides to take her to task and wants to know if her information is from a "peer reviewed selective scientific article". She responds, and he asks the same question again. So the Warrior Princess goes on to post charts and other evidence to suggest what I have. That The IPCC's info is flawed. But she explained it pretty well herself:
While the IPCC Report supports your personal view on global warming, I would like to mention that my critique of the report is valid regardless of the fact that I am not an environmental science scientist. When I state that the report "uses convenience samples and a very large margin of uncertainty", this is not my opinion. It is a fact. A basic understanding of statistics can confirm this, just as plainly as one can confirm that 2 + 2 = 4 without the necessity of a peer reviewed study. While I agree that peer reviewed studies are helpful in trying to sort out different interpretations of data, they are virtually useless when it comes to statements such as "2 + 2 = 4" or, in this case, the statement I made that "the IPCC report uses convenience samples and a very large margin of uncertainty."
You go girl! People just take what is said by someone who says they are a scientist as gospel truth. If people would spend a little time looking at the charts and studies, and try to learn a little, they would find the truth in her statement. Some of the IPCC's stated facts are simply wrong and it has been documented and proven but several leading "denier" scientists.
Anyway, I like this lady. She obviously likes too think for herself. So, I typed in "Marina Warrior Princess" into my search engine seeing of she had anything out there to read. I don't think I found her, but I did find these possibilities.
She might be a Xena; Warrior Princess-Director. Maybe this is her? It's pretty clear though that this lady does not fit the description. Just goes to show you that not all vegs are nutty.
