Kansas Governor Says NO! To Clean Coal

Governor Kathleen Sebelius vetoed the newest legislation to get two new clean coal fired nuclear power plants in Kansas.
In the Washington Post article on the same subject, here is what the governor had to say:

"Of all the duties and responsibilities entrusted to me as governor, none is greater than my obligation to protect the health and well-being of the people of Kansas,"

Of course the Sierra Club always has to be involved.

Opinions varied about the significance of Sebelius's action. Stephanie Cole, a Sierra Club spokeswoman, said other states' efforts to control greenhouse gas emissions would be damaged by the two plants.
"It sends a message that Kansas is willing to be part of the solution, rather than part of the problem," Cole said of the governor's veto. "Kansas is sort of ground zero right now for the global warming debate."

But Senate President Stephen Morris (R) is not convinced:

"The people of Kansas expect, and they need, affordable electricity, and so we'll be working to make sure that happens, whether it's a veto override in the next few days or some other way to achieve it," Neufeld said. "We'll just continue to hold options open."

So here in lies the problem-Save the plant from the unproven evils of CO2 or Provide affordable energy to American citizens.
Those of us who have not bought into the whole global warming hysteria, are also the same who think that people need to find their own way in life. They need to work hard and pay their own way. Governor Sebelius doesn't worry about all that since most democrats will be happy to tax the rich and give that money to those who can't afford their heating bill because she decided that coal is dirty.
