Old Englishman Doubts Global Warming

Former Prime Minister Margart Thatcher's energy minister, Nigel Lawson, has come out with a new book, An Appeal to Reason: A Cool Look at Global Warming. He isn't buying it. Part way into the article came one of the unfortunante truths about Europe and it's unquestioned belief in global warming.

After serving on a House of Lords committee investigating the economics of global warming, Lawson himself concluded that the science behind it was not as certain as many people believe, and that the measures being taken to address the warming of the globe are economically damaging.
Then he wrote his book. “But despite being promoted by an outstanding literary agent,” he says, “the book was rejected by every British publisher to whom it was submitted – and there were a considerable number of them.” (It went to an American-owned publisher in the end.) The problem, Lawson believes, was that “to question global warming is regarded as sacrilege”. He gives a faint snort. “I hate intolerance. The only thing I won’t tolerate is intolerance.”

I guess in England, as an independent publisher, you don't dare publish a book questioning the IPCC, the U.N. or the global scientific communty about climate change; you would certainly never sell another book. Intolerance is too light a word for it.
I prefer stupidity.

BBC Perplexed About America And Guns

Great article via Instapundit from the BBC about the tranquility of America despite all the gun violence they hear about from the NY Times.

Wait till you get to London Texas, or Glasgow Montana, or Oxford Mississippi or Virgin Utah, for that matter, where every household is required by local ordinance to possess a gun.

Folks will have guns in all of these places and if you break into their homes they will probably kill you.

They will occasionally kill each other in anger or by mistake, but you never feel as unsafe as you can feel in south London.

It is a paradox. Along with the guns there is a tranquillity and civility about American life of which most British people can only dream.

From their own mouth's. Even with guns banned in England, they still don't feel as safe.

Yes, it may seem like a paradox to those who do not understand that guns are not the problem. It's humanity's moral compass. It's humanity's lack of GOD fearing principles.
