Missouri Lawmakers or Lawbreakers?

Money is always the hinge when it comes to environmental savoy. And these elected representatives in Missouri know how to make it work for them.
About 20 past or present Missouri officials have received more than $400,000 in tax credits for investing in alternative fuels such as ethanol or biodiesel.

But many of them had an advantage: They wrote the tax breaks into law or voted to award millions of tax dollars to energy companies in which they were invested. Some of the officials began taking the tax breaks before they were elected and continued doing so after taking office. Others used the breaks only after voting on them, according to records reviewed by The Associated Press.

Being green is sometimes just being blinded by the color of money.

U.N. At It Again

As I have noted in past blogs, I have little respect for the U.N., especially the IPCC. The oil for food program, the raping of villagers in Africa by U.N. forces and various other problems through out the years have plauged the organization; yet it still exsists.
Once again we have another issue, this time with the food shortages and the U.N.'s need for money; money they already have.
Add to the fact that some part of the food shortage is being caused by the alarmism of global warming from the IPCC. Production of ethanol is whats paying, so farmers are growing alot of corn, while wheat, rice, and other exported food is being shunned.

Everything is linked and money is always the hinge point. This is a win-win situation for the U.N.

Salmon Fishing In California Suspended

Extemely low levels of Chinook Salmon are causing enough concern that  Secretary of Commerce Carlos M. Gutierrez to suspended all fishing of Salmon this year. The NOAA is investigating the causes, but puts the blame on the ocean.

Although the reasons for the sudden decline of the fishery are not completely understood, NOAA scientists suggest that changes in ocean conditions, including unfavorable shifts in ocean temperature and food sources for juvenile salmon, likely caused poor survival of salmon that would have comprised this year’s fishery. Loss of freshwater habitat for salmon spawning, rearing, and migration to the ocean is a chronic problem that has made salmon populations more susceptible to the occasional poor ocean conditions. NOAA will undertake a thorough examination of the causes.

Even though the NOAA suggests nothing about global warming, an opinion in the LA Times makes it.

Even more alarming is the uncertainty over what is to blame for this sudden collapse. This isn't an overfishing situation, where giving the fish a break will bring them back to abundance. The prevailing theory among scientists is that a change of ocean currents, perhaps brought about by global warming, is lowering nutrient levels where the salmon swim. Because salmon populations farther north are also down, but not by as much, the theory makes sense. If that's the case, the salmon may continue to disappear.

It is so easy to make the link with no proof these days. The debate is now over regarding climate change, so any unusual change in weather, temperature, or animal pattern is concern enough to make it so.

The Governators Gulf Stream Dilehmma

Arnold may no longer be able to fly his Gulfstream back and forth to work. The city council of Santa Monica voted to stop all large jets from flying in or out of the cities airport.

Betting Against Global Warming

Celebrity Poker and climate change...How can one help the other? Have a charity event for the people of Africa effected by climate change. You can watch the video advertisement here.

How much do you think a proffesional poker player knows about climate change? World champion poker player Phil Hellmuth will be emceeing the event. In his bio he sounds just like the type to want to promote awareness about climate change.

If I could change anything in the world: I would like everyone in the world to truly 'see the good' in everyone else. I believe that if that were the case, then we wouldn't have wars, murders and cruelty anymore. I am not denominational in my religous choices, but I believe that Buddha had it right when he told his followers, 'It is important to see the good in everyone.' I have a long way to go in my life to get to where I would like to be, but when I am at my best I am able to see the good even in some of the slimiest poker players out there. Sometimes it is hard, but I can always find something good in them eventually.

 Peace-nik alert!

The Back-peddaling Has Begun On Global Warming

A new study out by IFM-GEOMAR and from the MPI for Meteorology have found a way to better predict results of climate change.
Oddly, they suggest now that the planet will cool over the next 10 years.

Hmm, that's interesting!

Do you think maybe they simply don't have a clue yet because they are nowhere near having all the neccesary data to predict climate accurately?

But don't be fooled they say...

“Just to make things clear: we are not stating that anthropogenic climate change won’t be as bad as previously thought”, explains Prof. Mojib Latif from IFM-GEOMAR. “What we are saying is that on top of the warming trend there is a long-periodic oscillation that will probably lead to a to a lower temperature increase than we would expect from the current trend during the next years”, adds Latif. “That is like driving from the coast to a mountainous area and crossing some hills and valleys before you reach the top”,
