The End Of Global Warming?

Some from the other side of the pond think so...

First, all over the world, temperatures have been dropping in a way wholly unpredicted by all those computer models which have been used as the main drivers of the scare. Last winter, as temperatures plummeted, many parts of the world had snowfalls on a scale not seen for decades. This winter, with the whole of Canada and half the US under snow, looks likely to be even worse. After several years flatlining, global temperatures have dropped sharply enough to cancel out much of their net rise in the 20th century.

Secondly, 2008 was the year when any pretence that there was a "scientific consensus" in favour of man-made global warming collapsed. At long last, as in the Manhattan Declaration last March, hundreds of proper scientists, including many of the world's most eminent climate experts, have been rallying to pour scorn on that "consensus" which was only a politically engineered artefact, based on ever more blatantly manipulated data and computer models programmed to produce no more than convenient fictions.

Thirdly, as banks collapsed and the global economy plunged into its worst recession for decades, harsh reality at last began to break in on those self-deluding dreams which have for so long possessed almost every politician in the western world. As we saw in this month's Poznan conference, when 10,000 politicians, officials and "environmentalists" gathered to plan next year's "son of Kyoto" treaty in Copenhagen, panicking politicians are waking up to the fact that the world can no longer afford all those quixotic schemes for "combating climate change" with which they were so happy to indulge themselves in more comfortable times.

We will look back at all of this global warming hysteria and laugh. The obvious question though,  is what will become of Al Gore?

Top Ten Global Warming Stories

Fox News put together the top ten stories of global warming this year. This is one...

2. The Death of the Loch Ness Monster

A World War II veteran, Rines has spent 37 years hunting for Nessie with sonar equipment. In 2008, "despite having hundreds of sonar contacts over the years, the trail has since gone cold and Rines believes that Nessie may be dead, a victim of global warming."

How I missed that one, not sure.

Environmentalism In School

This opinion piece in the Boston Globe suggests that public schools should be teaching environmentalism. Actually, they should be teaching math, english, and science...real science, proven science.

On the broadest level, students need to understand the science behind climate change and recognize that although the science continues to become more refined, we can act now with the information we have. Students need to become more familiar with the general strategies we will use to lessen the impacts of climate change. Perhaps most importantly, students need to learn to think creatively about climate change, since innovative solutions will be necessary for one of the most challenging problems of our time.

Instead, the writer of the opinion piece wants our tax dollars spent on teaching our youth science that is "still being refined". What happens when in twenty years there is no global warming; we say "woops", and move on to the next thing?

My son has been getting 9 week crash courses in all kinds of things since entering middle school and on into high school. Yet, he was not taught to spell words correctly. He was taught how to use spell check though.. He was taught what all the funny looking symbols on a calculator are and how to use the calculator.

And then your son tells you about the 20 something teachers stories they shared with their students about their drinking and fighting escapades over the last weekend. Add into the mix the recent wave of female teachers getting thier rocks off on 15 year boys.
Between those things and the corrupt teacher's union, why not teach global warming?

It is already being taught. My son's education is proof.

Click here if you are a teacher in need of a global warming lesson plan.

Where Is That Global Warming?

Great article from National Review's Deroy Murdock, pointing out all the curious things that seem to discredit the idea of CO2 based climate change.

Ever seen a picture like this?

Actually, the odds are rising that snow, ice, and cold will grow increasingly common. As serious scientists repeatedly explain, global cooling is here. It is chilling temperatures — if not the climate alarmists’ fevered expectations of so-called global warming.

According to the National Climatic Data Center, 2008 will be America’s coldest year since 1997, thanks to La Niña and precipitation in the central and eastern states. Solar quietude also may underlie global cooling. This year’s sunspots and solar radiation approach the minimum in the Sun’s cycle, corresponding with lower Earth temperatures. This echoes Harvard-Smithsonian astrophysicist Dr. Sallie Baliunas’ belief that solar variability, much more than CO2, sways global temperatures
.

   Guess we will see, huh?

Scandal invades California Air Board

Once again, it is proven that those who are in charge of the environment are just as corrupt as the rest of government.

On Dec. 12, the state Air Resources Board approved sweeping new rules governing diesel emissions, winning applause from environmentalists around the nation who said that once again California was blazing a path for the world.

Within days, however, a Union-Tribune editorial writer had confirmed allegations that Hien T. Tran – the lead scientist and coordinator of the study used to justify the stringent new diesel regulations – had falsely claimed to have a Ph.D. in statistics from the University of California Davis.

As usual, the media is not interested in covering the story.

But isn't this, well, news? Of course it is. The fact of Tran's deception has been confirmed by UC Davis, which says he doesn't have the Ph.D. in statistics he claimed. The air board said it is now investigating Tran's work. The governor's office said it wants a thorough investigation.
But in the newsroom of California, the spike is out again. A Nexis hunt shows not a word has been written about this in the state's newspapers outside of the U-T.

This really comes as no surpise though. As the article states, this is not the first time scandal has hit, yet the media can't be found. Just another day in California.

The True Meaning Of Activist

This guy puts the activist in environmental activist.

An environmental activist undermined an auction of oil and gas drilling leases Friday by bidding up parcels of land by hundreds of thousands of dollars without any intention of paying for them, a federal official said.

Tim DeChristopher, a 27-year-old University of Utah student, said his plan was to disrupt the auction. He won the bidding on 13 parcels, auction records show, and drove up the price of several other pieces of land.

"I thought I could be effective by making bids, driving up prices for others and winning some bids myself," the Salt Lake City man said.

Some bidders said they were forced to bid thousands of dollars more for their parcels, while others fumed that they lost their bids. Some also said they may reluctantly hold on to their leases - despite the higher cost - out of concern that the parcels might not go up for auction again under President-elect Barack Obama's administration.

Sounds like he accomplished his mission. Would he be considered a terrorist?
Just wondering.

Some Car Companies Escape EU Emissions

Britain had pressed for a special deal for Jaguar Land Rover because it argued that the rules favoured much larger companies which owned a range of marques of varying sizes and had more flexibility in how they met the target.

Other British manufacturers which produce fewer than 10,000 cars a year, including Aston Martin, Lotus and McLaren, have also won the right to have special targets which will be easier for them to achieve than the industry-wide one.

LTI, which makes London’s black cabs, was granted exemption from the rules.

Our Ancient Ancestors Did It

So, it is not the fault of the industrial age that we have global warming, according to a new study out saying the blame can now be pinned on our cave-dwelling ancestors. Via Instapundit.

What's more, according to the same computer simulations, the cumulative effect of thousands of years of human influence on climate is preventing the world from entering a new glacial age, altering a clockwork rhythm of periodic cooling of the planet that extends back more than a million years.

"This challenges the paradigm that things began changing with the Industrial Revolution," says Stephen Vavrus, a climatologist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Center for Climatic Research and the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies. "If you think about even a small rate of increase over a long period of time, it becomes important."

Was this intervention morally wrong? Should some ancient Al Gorestone have lobbied Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble to stop using agriculture?

So, how do we fix it? Climate engineering. Human climate engineering on a global scale, that is.

Global warming, some have argued, can be reversed with a large-scale "geoengineering" fix, such as having a giant blimp spray liquefied sulfur dioxide in the stratosphere or building tens of millions of chemical filter systems in the atmosphere to filter out carbon dioxide.

We actually fund, through our tax dollars, universities that think up this stuff. It is really quite amazing.

Another Christmas Gift Idea

This one is not of the environmentally friendly compartment, but it is cool. In Washigton D.C., these things are selling like hot cakes!
It's a Barack Obama Jack-in-the-box!

Man...why didn't I think of that?

I actually bought some of these (below) at the Democratic National Convention when it came to Denver. I even got two of them signed by the designer.  You can get these from Jailbreak Toys.

Carbon Credit Values In Europe Finding New Lows

As oil tracks downwards, so has the value of carbon credits on the EU carbon market.
Carbon trading only works when the credits are worth something. Just another reason why cap and trade is a dumb idea.

If you are a big fan of cap and trade, or wish to understand it better then this site is for you! It's a crazy-carbon-credit-cornucopia!
Actually, I don't think there is anything else in the world that could drive someone to complete madness as fast as trying to understand the cap and trade market. The simply definition is this: It is a way to make people feel better about polluting, while those that design the programs make money off of your feelings.

Guide To Last Minute Green Gifts

If your running out of time and need some good Christmas gift ideas that are "Earth friendly" than here is your source.

Here's a good one. Buy property, then collect carbon credits and trade them for clean air!

This one I like. It teaches science, which in this day and age is a good thing.

Let your dog make a statement with this line of cloths for pets.
This is kind of cool as well. Rechargeable AA batteries that charge through any USB port.

Just trying to help with those last minute gifts! Some are good, some are bad, others are nothing more than propaganda.
It is all fun though! Merry Christmas!

Climate Deal Struck In Poland

Here it is, the "20-20-20" climate deal put together by all those concerned with that evil menace global warming. And, as usual, no one is pleased with the agreement except those that brought it together...politicians.

"It is quite historic what has happened here," French President Nicolas Sarkozy told a press conference at the conclusion of a two-day E.U. summit in Brussels.

"No continent has given itself such binding rules that we have adopted with unanimity," added Sarkozy, who chaired the gathering as head of the French E.U. presidency.

The greenies had a different take on the deal...

...Greenpeace, WWF, and other environmental groups denounced the agreement as "a dark day for European climate policy."

"European heads of state and government have reneged on their promises and turned their backs on global efforts to fight climate change," they said in a joint statement.

They accused the German, Italian, and Polish leaders plus Sarkozy of choosing "private profits of polluting industry over the will of European citizens, the future of their children and the plight of millions of people around the world."

The green groups called on the European Parliament, which must also approve the deal, to "amend the worst parts."

Just wait until Obama gets his turn! An administration that sees climate change as one of the top issues it wants to address in it's first 100 days. A congress controlled by the likes of Nancy Pelosi, and the installation of a cap and trade program that even Senator McCain would support,  we will have a climate trifecta in place that will dwarf the cowardly Europeans panzy attempts at greening up.

We, as Americans, will once again show them who is the leader in this world!

God help us!

Electric Car Companies In Trouble

Just in case you thought it was just the old school car companies asking for bailouts, the new kids on the block are hurting as well.

The electric-vehicle industry positions itself as the future of personal transportation. President-elect Barack Obama is now the industry's highest ranking advocate. He's said he wants to see one million plug-in vehicles by 2015, as part of his broader goal to end U.S. dependence on Mideast oil.

But right now, the electric-vehicle community has a lot of the same problems as the legacy car business, and a few more besides. Brian Wynne, the head of the EDTA, says manufacturers in his group need the government's help now.

"We have a gap," he says. "We need to get over this gap."

Tesla Motors LLC, once the darling of the green car movement, is now scrambling to stay afloat and is asking for a $400 million loan from the same $25 billion federal Energy Department program that Detroit's car makers are looking to tap in their own fight for survival.

The difference here is Nancy Pelosi and Harry Ried won't make the CEO of Tesla Motors come and grovel at their feet to get their portion of the bailout cash.

Climate Protestors-Plane Stupid

The group Plane Stupid, broke into a secured area of the Stansted Airport in London to protest aeroplane emissions.

One of the activists, Lily Kember, 21, said the protesters had used bolt cutters to get in to a secure area around 50 metres from the runway.
Ms Kember said a total of 54 protesters were sitting down on a site near where aeroplanes taxi before taking off and landing. "Being arrested is a terrifying prospect, but not nearly as terrifying as the threat of climate change," she said.

Young minds are such a terrible thing to waste. Make sure to read the responses.
