When I saw the headline, the first thing I thought was Daimler needs the technology to meet the new emission standards...and I was correct!
But Daimler wanted more than just a simple supplier-customer relationship, explains Dieter Zetsche, chairman of the board of management of Daimler and head of Mercedes-Benz Cars. "We are in a time of change," he says. "This industry is going through a kind of paradigm shift, and has to
reinvent itself ultimately to be independent of petroleum and without CO2 emissions. We need fast technology change."
Of course, they didn't come right out and say it, but I think it is pretty clear they are going to need the battery technology that Tesla has created to help them meet the changing emission standards around the world.
Nice!!! It is almost as cool as these...
All these are lacking is fuel economy.
