Tired of filling up the old Hummer ever other day?
GM and Raser Technologies is working together to create a more "green" Hummer.
Here is the catch though...it has 600 pounds of lithium-ion batteries in it.
'They say the solution is to buy small vehicles which get better gas mileage. But no, we need a better technology.'
Although the hybrid Hummer is not scheduled for sale until 2011, it has already proven popular, with 17,000 people placing orders.
I wouldn't hold your breath in the hopes this thing will go into production; Hummer may be a thing of the past pretty shortly. But who knows for sure anymore. It may still be GM but it will be Government Motors instead; or maybe OM for Obama Motors. Either way, they will be building cars that the left want built not necessarily what people want.
It is good though that people are expanding this technology. Take a look at this for instance...

Boulder Electric Vehicles will have a production model by 2011. Based on Boulder, Colorado, they are trying to make a utility vehicle that can work and be green at the same time. It can haul up to 7,000 lbs., go up to 100 miles on a charge and will cost you only 3-8 cents a mile to use.
Good luck to them. I would suggest a more pleasant looking front end though?!
