Climategate Rears Its Ugly Head At Copenhagen

Right out of the box the Saudi's question man-made global warming by bringing up climategate at the climate summit in Copehagen..
I never would have thought that the Saudi Arabia would be my hero. Well, maybe not my hero, but at least they brought it up.

The "Climategate" row took centre stage on the opening day of the Copenhagen climate summit today as the world's leading oil exporter intervened to question the scientific consensus on man-made global warming.

As 15,000 delegates from 192 nations began what was billed as the "last, best chance" to avert a catastrophic rise in sea and air temperatures, Saudi Arabia's chief climate negotiator, Mohammed al-Sabban, spoke from the floor to say that e-mails hacked from a UK research centre had shaken trust in the work of scientists.

   Al-Sabban also said:

"In light of recent information ... the scientific scandal has assumed huge proportion," he said. "We think it is definitely going to affect the nature of what can be trusted in the negotiations."

Good for them. But the IPCC started out the talks by stressing the fact that the emails were taken by an "illegal act".

Rajendra Pachauri, chairman of the Nobel prize-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), said the hackers had been trying to undermine the work of his organisation.

But he said that the science as presented in the IPCC's last assessment report two years ago was clear and incontrovertible and covered water shortages and rising sea levels.
"Given the wide-ranging nature of change that is likely to be taken in hand, some naturally find it inconvenient to accept its inevitability," Dr Pachauri said.

"The recent incident of stealing the e-mails of scientists at the University of East Anglia shows that some would go to the extent of carrying out illegal acts, perhaps in an attempt to discredit the IPCC.

"But the panel has a record of transparent and objective assessment stretching over 21 years performed by tens of thousands of dedicated scientists from all corners of the globe."

Let's hope some determined countries and their negotiators keep the heat on. We need to get to the bottom of this before we start signing away what stability we have left of our economy's.

Hottest Decade On Record-Must Be CO2

All the MSM is a buzz with the story of how this has been the hottest decade on record. That, of course, is up for debate since the leaked CRU email scandal has begun to make it's rounds. But that hasn't put a damper on the bought-and-sold media running story after story of the same old climate change junk everyday.

And nothing is different overseas either. "Warmest Decade On Record!" from Der Spiegel. What is really annoying is the pictures they are always putting next to the article. Here is theirs...

The sun.

What exactly does a solar flare on the surface of the sun have to do with this story. Actually, if the climate nutters spent a little more time on the  effect of the Sun on the Earth, instead of CO2, maybe they would understand a little more about our planets climate. Anyway, here is what they said...

As if there wasn't enough urgency surrounding the climate summit currently underway in Copenhagen, the top weather expert for the United Nations announced on Tuesday that this decade is likely to be the warmest on record.

You know, we do have a lot to worry about right now. I am just not sure ClimateHagen, or HopenHagen, or CopenChange is high on the list of priorities. At least in the states, I believe a little more time on say, job creation would be good.

Hopenhagen In Copenhagen

Here is yet another web site pushing people to sign another global warming petition. It looks like they are stealing Obama slogan; you know, the hopenchange slogan, or what I prefer, hopeychangey. Anyway, here is their mission statemement.

Hopenhagen is a movement, a moment and a chance at a new beginning. The hope that in Copenhagen this December – during the United Nations Climate Change Conference – we can build a better future for our planet and a more sustainable way of life. It is the hope that we can create a global community that will lead our leaders into making the right decisions. The promise that by solving our environmental crisis, we can solve our economic crisis at the same time.

If you can't make it to ClimateHagen, you can always buy a t-shirt.

Polar Bears Are Nice...Really!

Here are some pretty astonishing pictures from EnglishRussia.com showing people socializing with the local polar bear population.

At the very eastern part of Russia, where lands of the USA and the Russian Federation nearly adjoining each other and only small neck splits these two spacious countries, there are Chukotka peninsula and the Chukotka autonomous district situated.

The climate is very severe and sometimes weather can be so fierce in winter that the temperature falls 40C degrees below zero (it is the same by Fahrenheit, -40F) so that poor white bears and their children start starving and freezing though they aren’t supposed to freeze with such a jacket of their.

And where do you think they would search for help? Yeah, you are absolutely right, they will go to their next-door neighbors looking for help of any kind. But a man always was just a slab of meat, toy and bait for such a leviathan as white bear.

Too bad they are all going to be gone when the arctic melts. Whatever.

The Story Of Cap and TRade

Here is an interesting video on cap and trade. Not sure who this women is, but she seems to garner a lot of attention. The problem with her video is that, for one,  you have to believe people are going to die because of sea level rise. Secondly, you have to believe that the government can fix this problem if we just let them. I have to admit though, the animation was quite good!

Obama Getting Mixed Reviews In Europe

Der Spiegel has this article on Obama's "greenness".

As the curtains open at the global summit in Copenhagen, critics in Europe are calling US President Barack Obama a liar and a traitor in the fight to slow global warming. In truth, though, he's the greenest president America has ever seen.

Now Barack Obama is guilty, along with an America that is oil-dependent, ultra-consumerist, superficial and detached from the world. The White House messiah had proclaimed a new direction for a warming planet -- and hasn't fulfilled his vision within a historical second. Ten months into his term, the United States is showing up at the global climate conference in Copenhagen without having passed a climate change bill.

The US is not delivering. US President Barack Obama has -- according to the commentaries, including one on SPIEGEL ONLINE -- "neglected" climate change policies, "betrayed" his claim to be a "citizen of the world," and has been "dishonest with Europe." When it comes to climate change, he is "following in the footsteps of his predecessor."

Kind of harsh don't you think? It's getting tough to be the Anointed One! Of course, they obviously don't think much of the American citizen either because we are, in their words, "ultra-consumerist, superficial, and detached from the world". Actually, I am okay with that. If it bothers them, it must be good.
