Would you buy it? It uses 9 watts of electricity to put out 40 watts worth of light. It fits in a normal socket and emits light in all directions (a catching point in development). It lasts 17 years, about three times as long as a normal CFL. When you're done with it — after the kids have gone off to college — you can just toss it out.
Problem? It costs $50. Is it worth it?
Actually, I like the idea. One problen though; most people don't live in their house for 17 years.
